Is the company registration number and VAT number the same?
No, the VAT number and company registration number are not the same.
In the Netherlands:
- Company registration number: Confirms your business is registered with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (KvK).
- VAT number: A turnover tax number used for tax reporting purposes.
Each serves a different purpose, so both numbers are required for different processes.
In Belgium:
The company registration number and VAT number are virtually identical.
The only difference is that:
- The VAT number is preceded by "BE" (e.g., BE 1111.111.111).
